Volunteer
Live, learn and work in one of the most beautiful and ecologically rich places on Earth—the Nandamojo Watershed in Costa Rica. Nestled along the Pacific Ocean, our valley has been significantly degraded in recent decades due to poor land management practices. Restoring Our Watershed (ROW) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to renewing this amazing ecosystem, all the way from its headwaters to the beach at Playa Junquillal. As a public charity, we invite volunteers and interns to Costa Rica to help us accomplish our mission—not to make money. Our programs cost less than $20 per day, and there is absolutely no application fee. Moreover, any program costs associated with your volunteer stay are tax-deductible in the U.S. Housing is included in all packages, though participants are asked to cook for themselves in kitchen facilities provided by ROW. Volunteers and interns can choose from two opportunities to tailor an experience to their interests. Click on one of the pictures to the right to find out more about working with El Centro Verde, ROW’s reforestation nursery, or Mi Tierra, an organic farm which is developing techniques to produce healthy, Earth-friendly food. Volunteer experiences are available for any amount of time, though internships applications will only be accepted for stays of one month or more. Anyone with gardening, landscaping, farming or permaculture experience is encouraged to apply, though previous experience is not necessary to participate.
